Blueberry Tips
- Only wash the berries you are going to use! While our production processes ensure that you can enjoy the fruit as you receive it, we recommend washing only the berries you plan to use immediately. Keep in mind that washing the fruit removes the "Bloom," a layer of wax that the plant produces to protect its fruit and extend the blueberry's shelf life.
- Refrigerate your fruit! It's advisable to refrigerate the fruit as soon as you receive it. Once refrigerated, do not break the cold chain to keep the fruit fresh for a longer period.
- Freezing: If you purchase a large quantity of blueberries, consider freezing them to extend their shelf life. Spread the blueberries on a tray to freeze them separately and then transfer them to a sealed bag or container in the freezer.
- Direct consumption: Blueberries are delicious eaten alone as a healthy and refreshing snack. Add them to your cereal, yogurt, or salads for a sweet and nutritious touch.
- Desserts and recipes: Use blueberries in smoothies, muffins, pancakes, pies, sauces, and other sweet or savory recipes to add flavor and color.
- Combinations: Blueberries pair well with other ingredients such as lemon, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and fruits like strawberries, raspberries, and kiwis. Experiment with different combinations to discover new flavors.
- Health benefits: Enjoy blueberries not only for their delicious taste but also for their numerous health benefits. They are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber, and are associated with improving heart health, brain function, and skin health, among other benefits.
